Recently, I came across this quote by the beloved queen author & writer. After reading, I realized this rings so true for me. Whether quarantining alone or with family, the steady love and support for one another (in-person or virtual) is what gives me strength & hope. We are resilient. We are faithful. Over the past few months of this pandemic, we have been confronted with the unsettled feeling like everyone else while grieving through personal losses at the same time. It is still hard. Where to find joy? Where to be inspired? Thankfully, I did not have to venture far. Visiting familiar faces, sharing a quick laugh while masked & social distancing brought a much-needed spirit boost. Rarely without a camera, it was fun capturing these little moments. When the unsettled feeling returns (and it will), I have a reminder of this joyful time till we come together again - fully embracing, openly laughing and sharing food in one space. How are you finding support?

Lawlessness, brutality, lack of accountability mixed in with political ineptitude makes me wanna holler as Marvin Gaye soulfully sang. At the same time, I know to not grow weary, press on and remain full in my humanity. All emotions relevant, especially in these times. Shout. Cry. Breathe deep. Pray. Look up. Remain hopeful. Rejoice. This is a first in my lifetime to witness so much diversity in race, class, and gender to converge on the streets across this land. Stirring. Oftentimes, the youth of present day lead the marches, rallies. Our children, teens and young adults empowered to move exemplifies courage, resilience and hope. Older generations stand in solidarity, speak words of wisdom, even join those same assemblies. I am reminded that real change requires all of us – tireless energy & new perspective along with wisdom & vast experience. For this, I am encouraged.
